Cable Knit Cushion Cover Pattern

This easy-to-follow pattern is designed for a beginner-friendly cable knit cushion cover. The cover is approximately 16" x 16" and features a beautiful cable design, making it a delightful addition to your home decor.

Materials

• Worsted weight yarn (approx. 200 yards of purple and 200 yards of red)
• US Size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends
• Button closure (optional)

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Abbreviations

• CO - Cast On
• k - Knit
• p - Purl
• k2tog - Knit 2 Together
• Cable (C4B) - Cable 4 Back: Move the first 2 stitches to a cable needle and hold it at the back. Knit the next 2 stitches, then knit the stitches from the cable needle.

Instructions

Front (Cable Section)

1. CO 64 stitches with purple yarn.
2. Work in ribbing (k2, p2) for 4 rows.
3. Begin cable pattern:
   1. Row 1: *k4, p4; repeat from * to end.
   2. Row 2: *k4, p4; repeat from * to end.
   3. Row 3: *k2, C4B, k2; repeat from * to end.
   4. Row 4: Repeat row 2.
4. Repeat these 4 rows until the piece measures 16 inches from the CO edge.

Back

1. CO another 64 stitches with red yarn.
2. Work in stockinette stitch (k on right side, p on wrong side) for 16 inches.

Finishing

1. Place the front and back together with the right sides facing.
2. Sew around the edges, leaving a 4-inch opening at the bottom for stuffing.
3. Turn right side out and insert your cushion form.
4. Optionally, sew on a button closure if desired.
5. Weave in all ends securely.
