- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Gauge
20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

- p = purl
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- RS = right side
- WS = wrong side
- BO = bind off
- k2tog = knit two stitches together
Instructions
Leg Portion
- Cast on 28 stitches using the long tail method.
- Row 1 (RS): Knit all stitches.
- Row 2 (WS): Purl all stitches.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the piece measures 4 inches in height from the cast-on edge. This creates a rib pattern.
- Switch to stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) until the piece measures 2 inches from the last rib row.
Foot Portion
- Continue in stockinette stitch for 10 rows (this will be the sole of the bootie).
- Next row: (RS) Knit 2, k2tog across the row (21 stitches). You will decrease the number of stitches to 21.
- Next row: (WS) Purl.
- Next row: (RS) Knit 2, k2tog across the row (14 stitches).
- Next row: (WS) Purl.
- Continue this decrease pattern until you have 7 stitches left.
Finishing
- Bind off remaining stitches loosely.
- Cut the yarn, leaving a tail of about 10 inches.
- Using the tapestry needle, thread the tail and weave in and out of the remaining stitches to gather. Pull tight to close the toe and secure.
- Weave in any loose ends and turn the bootie right side out.
- Repeat these steps for the second bootie.
