Materials Needed:
- #5 bulky yarn (approx. 600 yards)
- 8mm crochet hook
- 5 buttons
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
8 stitches and 6 rows = 4 inches in textured stitch.
Size:
This pattern is written for sizes XS to XXL. Adjust the foundation chain for a tighter or looser fit.
Stitch Abbreviations:
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
- dc – double crochet
- bpdc – back post double crochet
- fpdc – front post double crochet
Instructions:
Back Panel:
- Ch 80 (adjust for size); join with a slip stitch to form a loop.
- Round 1: Ch 2, dc in same st, and in each st around (80 dc).
- Rounds 2-10: Ch 2, *bpdc in next st, fpdc in next st*, repeat from * to * around.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Front Panels (make 2):
- Ch 40 (adjust for size); join with a slip stitch to form a loop.
- Round 1: Ch 2, dc in same st, and in each st around (40 dc).
- Rounds 2-10: Ch 2, *bpdc in next st, fpdc in next st*, repeat from * to * around.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Sleeves (make 2):
- Ch 30 (adjust for size); join with a slip stitch to form a loop.
- Round 1: Ch 2, dc in same st, and in each st around (30 dc).
- Rounds 2-8: Ch 2, *bpdc in next st, fpdc in next st*, repeat from * to * around.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly:
- Attach the front panels to the sides of the back panel using slip stitches.
- Sew sleeves to armholes with a tapestry needle.
- Add buttons to the front of the cardigan at desired intervals.
- Weave in any remaining ends.
Finishing:
