Crochet Textured Cabled Pullover Sweater

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn (approximately 200-300 yards depending on size)
  • Crochet hook size H (5.0 mm)
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge: 12 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in single crochet

Sizes: This pattern is sized for children ages 4-5. Adjustments can be made for larger or smaller sizes by adding or removing stitches from the foundation chain.

Instructions:

Body:

  1. Start with a foundation chain of 60 stitches (adjust for size).
  2. Row 1: DC in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across. Turn. (58 DC)
  3. Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first DC), *FPDC in next stitch, BPDC in next stitch; repeat from * across. Turn.
  4. Row 3: Repeat Row 2 for pattern until piece measures 14 inches from the beginning.
  5. Shape Armholes: Turn your work, bind off the first 8 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Continue until you have 40 stitches remaining.
  6. Continue working in the established pattern until total length reaches 18 inches.

Sleeves:

  1. With yarn, attach to the top of the armhole. Ch 2, DC in the same stitch.
  2. DB in each stitch around (36 stitches).
  3. Repeat the yarn pattern for 8 inches, then decrease 2 stitches on each end every 4 rows until reaching 10 stitches.
  4. Fasten off and sew in ends.

Assembly:

  1. Join sleeves to the body by sewing or crocheting together.
  2. Weave in all ends carefully and make sure everything is secure.
