Crochet Cross with Tassel

Materials
- Cotton crochet thread size 10 in white and yellow
- Crochet hook size 1.75 mm
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this project.
Abbreviations
- ch - chain
- sl st - slip stitch
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- tr - treble crochet
Instructions
Center Piece
- With white thread, ch 4 and join with a sl st to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 11 dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch-3. (12 dc)
Arms of the Cross
- Work as follows from the 2nd round: start at one of the dc of previous round, *ch 3, 1 tr, ch 3, sl st in same st,* repeat from * to make the 4 arms of the cross. Ensure each arm is even.
First Border
- Switch to yellow thread.
- Round 2: *Ch 1, sc in each dc and tr from previous round, ch 3, sl st to join,* repeat around each arm. This creates a picot edge.
Second Border
- Still with yellow, work sc around each arm in each ch-space and dc, sl st each junction. Be careful to keep the work flat.
Tassel
- Cut several strands of yellow thread, around 4 inches each. Fold in half and attach to the bottom of the cross using a lark's head knot.
Finishing
- Weave in any loose ends with the yarn needle.
- Block lightly if needed for shaping.
