Stitch Pattern:

To create the textured pattern, you will alternate between rows of single crochet and double crochet clusters.

Instructions:

Body: (Make 1)

  1. Foundation Row: Ch 36 (or desired width for the vest).
  2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (35 sc)
  3. Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), turn, dc in first st, *sk 1 st, dc in next st; repeat from * across. End with dc in last st. (18 dc, 17 skipped stitches)
  4. Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, *dc in next dc cluster, sc in next skipped st; repeat from * across. End with sc in last st. (35 st)
  5. Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until piece measures 14" from the foundation row.
  6. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing:

  1. Fold the piece in half with the textured side facing out to form the body of the vest.
  2. Using a yarn needle, sew the sides together, leaving armholes about 6" wide.
  3. For the neckline, sew the edges where the fabric meets in the middle, shaping a V.
  4. Attach buttons on one side if desired.

Note:

This pattern can be adjusted for larger sizes by adding more chains to the foundation row or increasing the row count. Perfect for customizing and personalizing as you see fit!

Happy Crocheting!
