Crochet Chunky Textured Open Front Cardigan Free Pattern
Materials:
- Bulky yarn (approximately 800-900 yards)
- Size K (6.5 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Stitches Used:
- Chain stitch (ch)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Half double crochet (hdc)
- Post stitches (front and back post hdc)
Gauge:
12 hdc x 8 rows = 4 inches in textured stitch.
Size:
This pattern is designed to fit sizes S to XXXL. It can be easily adjusted by adding or subtracting stitches in multiples of 4.
Instructions:
- Back Panel:
- Ch 68 (or desired width) and hdc into the 3rd chain from the hook.
- Continue hdc across, turn.
- Ch 2, *hdc in the next st, hdc in the front post of the previous hdc*, repeat this pattern until you reach the end of the row. Turn.
- Repeat the last row until the piece measures 26 inches from the starting chain or desired length.
- Front Panels (Make 2):
- Ch 34 (or desired width) and hdc into the 3rd chain from the hook.
- Continue as for back panel until the piece measures 26 inches or desired length.
- Sleeves (Make 2):
- Ch 34 and hdc into the 3rd chain from the hook.
- Continue in hdc until the piece measures 18 inches or desired length.
- Assembly:
- Lay the back panel flat, and align the front panels on either side.
- Sew or slip stitch the sides together from the bottom of the front panels to the armholes.
- Attach sleeves to armholes using slip stitches, ensuring a snug fit.
- Finishing:
- Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
- Add any optional embellishments like buttons or pockets.
