Cheerful Striped Harvest Cowl
This cowl is made with soft, medium-weight yarn in a palette of autumn hues, offering both warmth and a pop of color to your wardrobe. The textured stripes add visual interest while keeping the design simple enough for beginners.
Materials Needed:
- Medium weight yarn (approx. 250 yards in various colors)
- Hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Gauge:
14 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in double crochet (blocked)
Size:
One size fits most; approximately 26 inches in circumference and 10 inches in height.
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Double Crochet (dc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
- Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Instructions:
- Foundation Row: Ch 70 (or adjust for desired cowl size), join to form a circle being careful not to twist.
- Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each ch around. Join with a sl st to the top of ch-3.
- Row 2: Ch 3, dc in each st around in Color A. Join with sl st.
- Row 3: Change color to Color B. Ch 2, hdc in each dc around. Join with sl st.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3, alternating colors every two rows for a total of 12 rows, or until desired height is reached.
- Final Row: Last row in Color C: ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st.
- Finish: Fasten off and weave in ends. Block if desired.
