Chunky Knit Blanket Pattern

This super cozy chunky knit blanket is a perfect project for beginners wanting to learn and practice basic knitting techniques. Its beautiful textured pattern makes it not only functional but also a stylish addition to your home. With this pattern, you will create a soft, warm blanket that measures approximately 50 x 60 inches.

Materials

  • Bulky Yarn (approximately 600 yards, in a golden or mustard color)
  • Size 15 (10 mm) circular knitting needles (29 inches or longer)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Measuring tape

Gauge

10 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (Knit 1 row, purl 1 row)

Abbreviations

  • k - knit
  • p - purl
  • st(s) - stitch(es)
  • BO - bind off
  • CO - cast on

Instructions

  1. Cast On: CO 60 stitches onto the circular needle. Make sure the stitches are not twisted around the needle.
  2. Row 1: *Knit 1, purl 1* across the row until the last stitch, then knit that stitch.
  3. Row 2: *Purl 1, knit 1* across the row until the last stitch, then purl that stitch.
  4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the blanket measures approximately 60 inches in length, or until you have reached your desired size.
  5. Bind Off: When you reach your desired length, bind off all stitches loosely. To bind off, knit two stitches, then use your needle to pull the first stitch over the second stitch and off the needle. Knit another stitch and repeat this process until all stitches are bound off.
  6. Finish: Cut the yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail. Thread the tail through the last loop on your needle and pull tight. Weave in any loose ends using a tapestry needle.

Your chunky knit blanket is now complete! Enjoy wrapping yourself in its cozy warmth or gifting it to someone special. Happy knitting!
