Base:

3. Ch 3, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*, repeat * around. Join. (36 dc)
4. Ch 3, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st*, repeat * around. Join. (48 dc)

Body:

5. Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc + ch 1), sk 1 st, *dc, ch 1, sk 1 st*, repeat * around. Join with sl st to third ch of beginning ch 4.
6. Ch 4, *dc into next dc, ch 1*, repeat * around. Join. Repeat this round until the bag measures 15 inches from the base.

Handles:

7. Working from where you left off, ch 1, sc in same st and in next 11 sts. Ch 40 for handle, sk 12 sts on bag, sc in next 12 sts, ch 40, sk 12 sts, sc in next 12 sts. Join with sl st in the first sc.
