Whether you’re looking to enhance your living room or create a cozy nook, this blanket is a wonderful addition to your home decor. Plus, it’s an ideal project for beginners who want to dive into the world of crochet!
Materials Needed
- Yarn: Bulky cotton yarn
- Hook: Size N (10 mm) crochet hook
- Gauge: 8 stitches and 6 rows = 4 inches in double crochet
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Start with a Slip Knot: Begin by making a slip knot on your crochet hook. This will be the starting point for your chain.
- Chain 60: Yarn over and pull through to create a chain. Repeat this until you have a total of 60 chains on your hook.
- Row 1: In the 4th chain from the hook, work 1 double crochet (dc). To do this, yarn over, insert your hook into the chain, yarn over again, pull through (you will have three loops on your hook), yarn over again, and pull through the first two loops, then yarn over and pull through the last two loops. Continue to dc in each chain across the row. Once you reach the end, turn your work around to start the next row.
- Row 2: Chain 3 (this counts as your first dc for the row). Now, work a dc in each dc across the row. When you reach the end, turn your work again.
- Repeat Row 2: Continue repeating Row 2 until your blanket measures approximately 60 inches in length. Make sure to measure your work periodically to ensure you reach the desired length.
- Create the Border: Once your blanket is the desired length, it's time to add a border. Work 1 round of single crochet (sc) around the entire blanket. When you reach each corner, place 3 sc in that stitch to create a nice rounded edge.
- Finish Up: After completing the border, fasten off your yarn by cutting it and pulling it through the last loop. Weave in any loose ends using a yarn needle to give your blanket a clean finish.
Congratulations! You have successfully created your own Cozy Textured Crochet Blanket. Enjoy snuggling up with it or gifting it to someone special!
