Create this beautifully textured cable knit jumper, perfect for chilly days. Featuring intricate cable patterns and a snug fit, this sweater is a must-have for your wardrobe.

Materials Needed

  • Yarn: Chunky weight yarn
  • Needles: US 10 (6 mm) circular needles
  • Gauge: 14 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in cable pattern

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Cast On: Start by casting on 80 stitches onto your circular needles. Make sure your stitches are not twisted on the needle.
  2. Ribbing: Work in ribbing pattern (k2, p2) for 2 inches. This will create a stretchy and comfortable neckline.
  3. Begin Cable Pattern:
    • Transition into the cable pattern by following this sequence: *K4, C4B (cable 4 back), K4; repeat from * until the piece measures 20 inches from the cast-on edge.
    • To perform the C4B, hold the next 4 stitches on a cable needle and let them rest at the back of your work. Knit the next 4 stitches from the left needle, then knit the 4 stitches from the cable needle.
  4. Sleeves:
    • Once the body of the jumper reaches 20 inches, it’s time to work on the sleeves. Pick up 40 stitches around each armhole using your circular needles.
    • Work in ribbing (k2, p2) for 2 inches for the sleeves as well.
    • After the ribbing, continue with the cable pattern until each sleeve measures 18 inches from the ribbing edge.
  5. Join Body and Sleeves:
    • Once both sleeves are complete, join the body and sleeves together. Make sure the stitches are evenly distributed on your circular needles.
    • Knit in the round for 5 inches to create the body of the jumper.
  6. Bind Off: After knitting the body, bind off loosely to ensure the edge is not tight.
  7. Finishing Touches:
    • Weave in all loose ends using a tapestry needle.
    • Block the sweater to shape it properly. This will help the cables pop and give your jumper a polished look.

Congratulations! You’ve just completed your very own cozy textured cable knit jumper. Enjoy wearing your handmade creation on chilly days!
