Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in brown, yellow, cream, and green
- Crochet hook size G/4.0 mm
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
Each granny square measures 6 inches x 6 inches.
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- sp: space
- st: stitch
Instructions:
Sunflower Granny Square:
Center:
- With brown yarn, form a magic ring.
- Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as dc), work 11 dc into ring. Join with sl st to first dc. (12 dc)
Petals:
- Switch to yellow yarn. Join with sl st in any dc. *Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. (24 dc)
Background:
- Switch to cream yarn. Join with sl st in any dc. *Ch 3, dc in same st, (dc in next st) twice. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
- Switch to green yarn. Work as follows to form a square: ch 4 (counts as first tr), (2 tr, ch 3, 3 tr) in same sp, *dc in next 3 dc, hdc in next 3 dc, sc in next 3 dc, hdc in next 3 dc, dc in next 3 dc, (3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr) in corner sp; repeat from * around, join with sl st to top of ch 4.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly:
- Make 63 squares in total.
- Arrange squares as shown in the image, alternating direction for a balanced look.
- Join squares using a whip stitch or your preferred joining method.
- Optional: Add a simple sc border around the entire blanket with green yarn.
Finishing:
- Weave in all loose ends.
