Whimsical Twinkling Snowflake Ornaments

Materials Needed:

• Sport weight cotton yarn (in white or light blue)
• G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Stitch marker

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sl st = slip stitch
• sc = single crochet
• dc = double crochet
• tr = treble crochet
• sp = space
• rep = repeat

Instructions:

Snowflake Body

1. Make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 1, 12 sc into the ring. Pull tight to close the ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (12)
3. Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), do 1 dc in the same st, 2 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. (24)
4. Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, ch 4, skip 1 st; rep from * around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (12 ch 4 spaces)
5. Round 4: In each ch 4 space, work: (sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc) to create points of the snowflake. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (12 points)

Finishing

1. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
2. Using a yarn needle, create a loop with the leftover yarn for hanging.
3. Optional: Add a sprinkle of glitter to each snowflake for an added twinkling effect!

Notes:

Adjust the size by using different yarn weights and hook sizes. These snowflakes can also be used as gift tags or accents on wrapping paper for an extra special touch!
