Whimsical Leafy Catnip Pouch Amigurumi
Materials:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn in beige and green
- Relevant crochet hook (size G/4.0 mm)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Catnip or small treats
Gauge: Not crucial for this project.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
Instructions:
Pouch Base
- Start with a magic ring, ch 1 (this does not count as a st) and work 8 sc into the ring. Pull tight to close the ring.
- Round 1: 2 sc in each st around (16 sts).
- Round 2: *sc in next st, 2 sc in the next st* repeat * to * until the end (24 sts).
- Round 3: *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in the next st* repeat * to * until the end (32 sts).
- Rounds 4-8: sc in each st around (32 sts). Continue until your pouch measures about 6 inches tall.
- Round 9: *sc in next 2 sts, dec (decrease)* repeat * to * until the end (24 sts).
- Round 10: *sc in next st, dec* repeat * to * until the end (16 sts).
- Round 11: *dec* around (8 sts). Fasten off leaving a long tail. Pull the tail through the remaining stitches to close the pouch.
Drawstring Top
- Using beige yarn, attach to the top edge of the pouch. Ch 1 and *sc in each st around* for 3 rounds.
- At the end of the last round, ch 20 for the drawstring. Join with a sl st to the last sc and fasten off.
Leaf Decoration
- With green yarn, ch 5 and create a leaf shape by working back and forth in single crochet (5 sc, turn, 5 sc, ch 1, turn, 2 sc, ch 1, turn, 2 sc, join).
- Attach the leaf to the front of the pouch with the yarn needle. Secure it well.
Now fill your finished pouch with catnip or treats, tie the drawstring, and watch your pet enjoy their new toy!
