Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in two colors (A for the body, B for the hat)
• Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
• Fiberfill stuffing

Abbreviations:

• ch – chain
• sc – single crochet
• inc – increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
• dec – decrease (single crochet two stitches together)
• st – stitch
• sl st – slip stitch

Pattern Instructions:

Base of the Ornament:

1. With color A, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: 6 sc into the ring (6 st).
3. Round 2: inc in each st around (12 st).
4. Round 3: *sc in next st, inc in next st* repeat around (18 st).
5. Rounds 4-7: sc in each st around (18 st).
6. Round 8: *sc in next st, dec* repeat around (12 st).
7. Stuff lightly with fiberfill.
8. Round 9: dec around (6 st). 
9. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Hat of the Ornament:

1. With color B, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: 6 sc into the ring (6 st).
3. Round 2: inc in each st around (12 st).
4. Round 3: *sc in next st, inc in next st* repeat around (18 st).
5. Round 4: *sc in next 2 st, inc* repeat around (24 st).
6. Rounds 5-8: sc in each st around (24 st).
7. Round 9: *sc in next 2 st, dec* repeat around (18 st).
8. Round 10: *sc in next st, dec* repeat around (12 st).
9. Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly:

1. Position the hat on top of the stuffed base.
2. Using the yarn tail, sew the hat to the base securely.
3. Optionally, sew a decorative button on the front of the hat.
4. You can create a loop for hanging by chaining 5 with color A and sewing it to the top of the hat.
