Crochet Textured Light and Breezy Oversized Shrug Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- 3 skeins of bamboo yarn (weight 4)
- E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
Gauge: 15 stitches = 4 inches in shell stitch pattern.
Sizes Available: Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large.
Instructions:
Back Panel
- Chain 100 (for size small; add 10 chains for each size up).
- Row 1: In the 4th chain from the hook, make 2 double crochets (dc). Skip 2 chains, *make 1 shell (5 dc in the same stitch), skip 2 chains; repeat from * across until the last 2 chains. Make 1 dc in the last chain. Turn.
- Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as 1 dc here and throughout), skip the first shell, *make 1 shell in the middle dc of the next shell, skip to the next chain; repeat from * across. Finish with a dc in the top of the turning chain. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures 30 inches from the beginning (or desired length).
Front Panels (make 2)
- Chain 50 (for size small; add 5 chains for each size up).
- Row 1-3: Repeat the same as the back panel for 3 rows or until the same length as the back panel.
Assembly
- Lay the back panel flat. Attach one front panel to each side using slip stitches along the edges.
- To create sleeves, fold back the edges of the front panels to your desired width and secure with slip stitches.
- Weave in all ends.
Finishing Touches
Border your shrug with a simple single crochet stitch around the entire piece for a polished look.
Care Instructions:
Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry to maintain shape.
