Playful Textured Waves Decorative Pillow

Skill Level: Beginner

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors (Color A, Color B) - approximately 200 yards each
• Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
• 18" x 18" pillow form
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle

Gauge:

12 stitches and 7 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch (checked after blocking)

Finished Size:

Approximately 18" x 18"

Pattern Notes:

• The pillow cover is made in one piece and folded to create the final shape.
• Use a stitch marker to keep track of your rows, if needed.

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Single Crochet (sc)
• Double Crochet (dc)
• Slip Stitch (sl st)

Instructions:

Body of the Pillow Cover:

Using Color A, ch 54.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (53 sc)

Row 2: Ch 2, turn. *Dc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc; repeat from * across. (26 dc, 26 ch-1 spaces)

Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each dc and ch-1 space across. (53 sc)

Row 4: Switch to Color B. Ch 2, turn. *Dc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc; repeat from * across. (26 dc, 26 ch-1 spaces)

Row 5: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each dc and ch-1 space across. (53 sc)

Repeat Rows 2-5 until piece measures approximately 18 inches tall, ending with Row 5.

Finishing:

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Fold the piece in half with the right sides together, aligning the edges. Using the tapestry needle, whip stitch along the two side edges and the bottom edge, leaving the top open for the pillow form.

Turn the pillow cover right side out. Insert the 18" pillow form into the cover, and enjoy your new decorative pillow!
