Crochet Playful Rainbow Crayon Caddy Free Pattern

Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and cream (or chosen neutral color)
- 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch marker (optional)

Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- inc = increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
- dec = decrease (single crochet two stitches together)

Gauge:
- 12 stitches x 10 rows = 4 inches in single crochet (adjust hook size if necessary to obtain gauge)

Instructions:

Base:

  1. With cream yarn, ch 30.
  2. Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (29 sc)
  3. Rows 2-6: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (29 sc)
  4. Fasten off and set aside.

Body of Caddy:

  1. Join your chosen rainbow color (red) with a sl st to the top edge of the base.
  2. Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc. (29 sc)
  3. Round 2: Ch 1, *sc in first 5 sc, inc in next*, repeat from * to * around, join. (34 sc)
  4. Round 3-6: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join.
  5. Switch to the next color of the rainbow for each round: orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple, following the same pattern for rounds 2-6.

Finishing the Caddy:

  1. With cream yarn, sc around the top edge for a tidy finish, adding a handle if desired:
  2. Ch 20, sl st to the other side to create the handle, securing tightly.
  3. Weave in all ends using a yarn needle.
