Crochet Light and Airy Spring Blossom Cardi
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Materials:
- Yarn: Sport weight yarn (approximately 700-900 yards, depending on size) in a hand-dyed cotton blend
- Hook: 4 mm G Hook
- Notions: Yarn needle, stitch markers, and buttons (optional)
Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL)
Gauge: 18 stitches x 24 rows = 4" in double crochet in pattern stitch
Pattern Notes:
This cardigan is worked from the top down. The body is constructed in one piece, and the sleeves are added later. Adjust the length as desired for a more customized fit.
Stitch Pattern:
Flower Lace Pattern:
- Row 1: Chain 76 (or multiple thereof for sizes) + 3 for turning. DC in 4th chain from hook, *(ch 1, skip 1 chain, DC in next chain)* repeat to end, turn.
- Row 2: Chain 3, (DC in next ch-1 space, ch 1) across to end, DC in last stitch, turn.
- Row 3: Repeat row 1.
Cardigan Body:
- Start with foundation chain from the shoulder to the underarm according to the size chosen.
- Work Flower Lace Pattern until the piece measures 10" from the shoulder, adjusting length as desired.
- Shape armholes: Work 20 stitches, ch 1, skip 1, work to end, and then return back in pattern to the beginning.
Sleeves:
- Attach yarn at the underarm, chain 1, and work in rounds using the Flower Lace Pattern for 8".
- Finish with ribbing by working (sc in next DC, ch 1) around, repeat to end.
Finishing:
- Weave in all ends and block if necessary.
- Attach buttons if desired for an added touch.
