Festive Geometric Star Tree Skirt

Materials:

• Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver, worsted weight, 100% Acrylic
• Color A: Gold (2 skeins)
• Color B: Cranberry (2 skeins)
• Color C: Pine Green (2 skeins)
• Hook: US-I/9, 5.5 mm
• Yarn Needle

Size:

Approximately 60" across

Gauge:

10 sts by 8 rows = 4" in hdc (half double crochet)

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• dc = double crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• sl st = slip stitch
• sp = space
• rep = repeat

Instructions:

Foundation Round:

With Color A, ch 6, join with sl st to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc 11 in ring, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)

Star Motif:

Round 2: Change to Color B, ch 3, (dc in next dc, ch 1) around, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc, 12 ch-1 sps)

Round 3: Change to Color C, in each ch-1 sp work (dc, ch 2, dc), join with sl st to first dc. (24 dc, 12 ch-2 sps)

Building the Skirt:

Continue working in rounds. Repeat Round 2 and Round 3 but alternate colors to create a visual pop, completing each round as follows:

• Round 4: Color A
• Round 5: Color B
• Round 6: Color C

Keep repeating this sequence, increasing the number of dc in each round to maintain a flat circumference, until the skirt reaches approximately 60" in diameter.

Finishing:

Edging: With Color A, sc evenly around the edge, creating a scalloped edge for a finished look. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
