- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
Gauge:
16 stitches x 10 rows = 4 inches in double crochet
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- sp = space
- tr = triple crochet
Instructions:
- Foundation: Chain 40. Join with sl st to form a ring, being careful not to twist.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in same sp. *Ch 2, skip next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * until you reach the starting point. Join with sl st.
- Round 2: Ch 3. This round will create the leaf shapes. *(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp; repeat from * around. Join with sl st.
- Round 3: Ch 1, sc in first dc. *Ch 4, skip the next leaf, sc in the next leaf; repeat from * around. Join with sl st.
- Rounds 4-6: Repeat Round 3, adding 1 more chain to the ch-4 in each subsequent round until you have 6 rounds total of chain spaces.
- Eyes: To create eye holes, skip 4 ch spaces in the middle of your mask. Join yarn with sl st to the next eye hole space and sc around the eye hole to create a decorative border. Repeat on the opposite side.
- Finishing: Weave in all ends. Optionally, you can attach ribbons to the sides for wearing, or a decorative bead in the center of your mask.
Notes:
Feel free to customize your mask with different colors or embellishments. Experiment with the number of rounds to make the mask larger or smaller!
