Crochet Elegant Texting Friendly Fingerless Mitts with Lacy Edges Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Yarn: #4 worsted weight yarn (about 200-250 yards)
- Hook: 5.0 mm (H) crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Gauge:
16 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.
Size:
This pattern includes instructions for adult medium size; adjust hook size and/or yarn for different sizes.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- st = stitch
- sp = space
Instructions:
Left Mitt:
- Ch 30 (or desired width) and join with sl st to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in each ch around, join with sl st to top of ch-2.
- Round 2: Ch 2, dc in next st, *ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st; repeat from * around, join with sl st.
- Round 3: Ch 2, dc in same st, dc in each ch-1 sp around, join with sl st.
- Repeat Rounds 2-3 until the desired length of the mitt is reached, approximately 8-10 inches.
- Finish the last round with a lacy round: Ch 1, *sc in next dc, ch 4, skip ch-1 sp; repeat from * around, join with sl st.
- To create the thumb hole: Ch 1, sc in next 10 stitches, ch 2, skip 2 stitches, sc in the next 10 stitches, join with sl st.
For the thumb:
- Ch 10, dc into the 4th ch from hook and in each remaining ch. (Repeat rounds as above)
- Join, turn, and repeat till it’s about 3 inches long.
- Sl st to attach thumb to the mitt and weave in ends.
Right Mitt:
Follow the same instructions but start from the thumb first, then work downwards.
Finishing:
Weave in any loose ends, and you’re ready to wear your beautiful mitts!
