Crochet Cozy Pom-Pom Shawl Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn (approximately 800 yards)
  • Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Pompom maker (optional)

Abbreviations:

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • st(s): stitch(es)
  • rep: repeat

Instructions:

Shawl:

  1. Start by making a magic circle.
  2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in circle, ch 2, 3 dc in circle. Turn. (6 dc)
  3. Round 2: Ch 3, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in top of ch-3. Turn. (10 dc)
  4. Round 3: Ch 3, dc in each dc to ch-2 space, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 space, dc in each dc to end, 2 dc in top of ch-3. Turn. (14 dc)
  5. Repeat Round 3 until the shawl measures approximately 60 inches wide or desired width.
  6. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Pom-Poms:

  1. Using a pom-pom maker or your preferred method, create 20-24 pom-poms.
  2. Attach each pom-pom evenly along the bottom edge of the shawl.
  3. Secure the pom-poms with a knot and weave in ends.

Finishing:

Block your shawl to smooth out any edges and bring out the stitch pattern. Enjoy your cozy, handmade shawl!
