Materials

  • Red Heart It’s a Wrap yarn or any super fine weight yarn in various colors: teal, beige, yellow, pink, grey, etc.
  • Crochet hook US F-5/3.75 mm
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Finished Size

54.5” wingspan x 26.5” spine unblocked.

Gauge

Rows 1-4 = 4” across straight edge. Adjust hook size as necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • dc: double crochet
  • sc: single crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • sp: space

Instructions

Granny Triangle

  1. Start with a magic circle: Ch 3 (counts as a dc), 2 dc in circle, ch 2, 3 dc in circle, ch 2, join with sl st to top of ch-3.
  2. Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, 2 dc in first sp, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in last sp. Clear distinction between color blocks.
  3. Row 2: Change color, ch 3, turn, 2 dc in first sp, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp*, repeat once, 3 dc in last sp.
  4. Repeat Row 2, alternating colors in large blocks to form the triangular shape. Follow color sequence as seen in the reference image, adjusting number of rows per color as needed.

Edging

Use grey color for the border.

  1. Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each dc and around each ch-1 sp evenly around the shawl.
  2. V-Stitch Border: Ch 3, *skip 1 sc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc*, repeat * around, join with sl st.

Finishing

Fasten off and weave in all ends with a yarn needle. Block to measurements to relax and shape your shawl.
