Crochet Delightfully Textured Cozy Arm Warmers with Floral Accents
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (approx. 200 yards)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch markers
Gauge:
12 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in double crochet
Finished Size:
Fits average adult arm, approximately 10 inches wide x 10 inches tall.
Stitch Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- tr = treble crochet
- sts = stitches
Instructions:
Base of the Arm Warmer:
- Start by making a foundation chain of 30 stitches.
- Row 1: DC in the 4th chain from the hook, DC in each chain across (28 DC). Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 DC), DC in the next stitch and in each across (28 DC). Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 1, SC in the first stitch, *DC in the next, SC in the next; repeat from * across (28 stitches). Turn.
- Row 4: Ch 3, DC in each stitch across (28 DC). Turn.
- Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until the piece measures 10 inches from the foundation chain.
Thumb Hole:
- Row 1: Ch 1, SC in the first 10 stitches, ch 3 (this creates the thumb hole), skip 3 stitches, SC in the next 15 (total 28 stitches). Turn.
Continuing the Arm Warmer:
- Row 2: Ch 3, DC in the first 10 stitches, DC in the 3-ch space, DC in the next 15 stitches (28 DC). Turn.
- Continue with the base pattern until arm warmer measures 10 inches from thumb hole.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Flower Accents (Make 4):
- In a contrasting color, ch 4 and join with a sl st to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3, 11 DC in the ring. Join to the top of the ch 3 with a sl st. (12 DC).
- Round 2: *Ch 2, 1 tr in the next stitch, ch 2, sl st in the next stitch; repeat from * around (12 petals). Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
- Attach two flower motifs on each arm warmer using the long tail of yarn.
- Block your arm warmers lightly to shape.
