Chunky Textured Twisted Scrunchie
Materials Needed:
- 1 skein of plush yarn (suggested: bulky weight yarn, such as Bernat Velvet)
- Elastic hair tie (approximately 4-5 inches in diameter)
- Crochet hook (6 mm or size appropriate for your yarn)
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Gauge:
Not critical; aim for a soft, plush texture.
Instructions:
Round 1:
- Start by creating a slip knot and chain 25.
- Join to form a circle, being careful not to twist the chain.
Round 2:
- In the first chain, work a double crochet (dc) and chain 1.
- Continue this pattern (dc + chain 1) into each chain around until you reach the start.
- Slip stitch into the first dc to join (25 stitches).
Rounds 3-4:
- In the same manner, work (dc + chain 1) in each chain around.
Round 5:
- Change stitch: Work 3 dc in each space created by the chain 1 from the previous rounds, creating a more ruffled look.
Round 6:
- Continue this pattern, alternating between 3 dc in the chain 1 spaces until the scrunchie is the desired fluffiness.
Finishing:
- Once you reach the desired height, pull the working yarn through the last loop to fasten off.
- Weave in all loose ends using a yarn needle.
- Carefully cover the elastic hair tie with the crocheted portion, ensuring it wraps evenly around.
- Secure the ends by stitching them to the hair tie for a neat finish.
Enjoy your new scrunchie!
