Crochet Charming Scallop-Edged Toddler Coat Free Pattern

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in pea green (approx. 600-800 yards depending on size)
• Crochet hook size H (5mm)
• 4 wooden buttons (1 inch diameter)
• Tapestry needle

Gauge:

• 14 stitches and 12 rows = 4 inches in double crochet

• 2 years (4 years, 6 years)

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• dc = double crochet
• sl st = slip stitch

Instructions:

Bodice:

1. Ch 60 (66, 72). Join to form a circle, being careful not to twist. Ch 2 (counts as dc), dc in each ch around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. (60, 66, 72 dc)
2. Ch 2, dc in each dc around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. Repeat this row 8 (10, 12) more times or until piece measures about 5 (6, 7) inches from the starting chain.

Skirt:

1. Continue from Bodice. Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts. Repeat around to increase stitches. Join with sl st.
2. Ch 2, dc in each st around. Join with sl st. Repeat this row until the skirt measures 8 (10, 12) inches from the bodice hem.

Sleeves (make 2):

1. Ch 36 (40, 44). Join to form a circle. Ch 2, dc in each ch around. Join with sl st.
2. Ch 2, dc in each dc around. Repeat until sleeve measures 7 (8, 9) inches.
3. Attach sleeves to the bodice using stitch markers and sew them together.

Hood:

1. Starting at the neckline, evenly pick up and dc 58 (64, 70) stitches around the neckline opening. Ch 2, turn.
2. Dc in each stitch across. Repeat until the hood measures 9 (10, 11) inches. Fold hood in half and sew the top seam.

Finishing:

1. Add scalloped edging: Join yarn at the right bottom hem, ch 1, sc in same st, *skip 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, sc in next st; repeat from * around coat hem, front edges, and hood opening.
2. Sew buttons onto the front of the coat, corresponding with buttonholes. Weave in all ends securely.
