Crochet Breezy Lightweight Lattice Top
This pattern is designed for beginners who want to create a stylish, airy top perfect for warmer weather. It uses easy-to-follow crochet stitches to form a lovely lattice pattern and includes a playful ruffle at the hem. The construction is simple, making this a great project for new crocheters.
Materials Needed:
- Sport weight cotton yarn (approx. 300-400 yards)
- 4.5 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
Gauge:
15 stitches = 4 inches in lattice stitch pattern
Size:
This pattern is sized for Adult Small, Medium, and Large. Adjust the initial chain for your desired size.
Instructions:
Back Piece:
- Ch 60 (70, 80) for desired size.
- Row 1: Dc into the 4th ch from hook, *ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in the next ch*, repeat across. (Last stitch will be a dc)
- Row 2: Ch 3, turn, *dc in ch-1 space, ch 1*, repeat to end.
- Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 22 inches (23, 24) from the beginning.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Front Piece:
- Repeat the instructions for the back piece until you have a second identical rectangle.
Joining:
- Place the two pieces together with the wrong sides facing each other.
- Join with sl st along the shoulders, leaving 7 inches (8 for medium, 9 for large) open for armholes.
- Join the sides with sl st, leaving an opening of 10 inches for the bottom hem.
Ruffle Hem:
- With the right side facing out, join yarn at the bottom of the hem with a slip stitch.
- Ch 3, *dc in the next stitch, ch 2, skip one*, repeat around the hem for a ruffled effect.
- End with a slip stitch to the top of the starting chain.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Finishing Touches:
Block your top gently to even out the stitches and create a beautiful finish. Pair with jeans or a skirt for a breezy summer look!
