Materials
- Velvet yarn in terracotta (approx. 50g)
- Black embroidery thread for facial features
- 4 mm crochet hook
- Stuffing
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge
16 single crochet stitches and 19 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in single crochet.
Abbreviations
- sc: single crochet
- inc: increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
- dec: decrease (single crochet 2 stitches together)
- fo: finish off
Instructions
Body
- Round 1: Make a magic ring with 6 sc. (6)
- Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12)
- Round 3: (1 sc, inc) six times. (18)
- Round 4: (2 sc, inc) six times. (24)
- Round 5-10: Sc in each stitch around. (24)
- Round 11: (2 sc, dec) six times. (18)
- Round 12: (1 sc, dec) six times. (12)
- Round 13: Dec in each stitch. (6)
- Stuff the body firmly.
- Fo and weave in ends.
Claws (make 2)
- Round 1: Make a magic ring with 4 sc. (4)
- Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (8)
- Round 3-5: Sc in each stitch around. (8)
- Fo, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff lightly.
Legs (make 6)
- Chain 6.
- Row 1: Starting in the second chain from hook, sc across. (5)
- Fo leaving a tail for attaching.
Assembly
- Sew the claws to the sides of the body.
- Attach the legs near the bottom of the body, three on each side.
- Use black embroidery thread to stitch eyes and a mouth onto the front of the body.
