Crochet Adorable Striped Pom-Pom Baby Hat Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in four colors: dark blue, light blue, medium blue, and cream.
• Size H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle
• Pompom maker

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Slip stitch (sl st)
• Double crochet (dc)

Gauge: 4" x 4" square = 14 dc and 8 rows

Size: Fits most babies 0-3 months. Adjust with more or fewer increase rounds for larger or smaller sizes.

Instructions:

1. Starting at the top: With dark blue yarn, make a magic ring.
   • Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 11 dc into the ring, sl st to the top of beginning ch-3. (12 sts)
2. Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to the top of beginning ch-3. (24 sts)
3. Round 3: Ch 3, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around, sl st to the top of beginning ch-3. (36 sts)
4. Round 4: Ch 3, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st; repeat from * around, sl st to the top of beginning ch-3. (48 sts)
5. Change to light blue yarn. Repeat Round 4.
6. Change to cream yarn. Repeat Round 4.
7. Change to medium blue yarn. Dc in each st around, sl st to the top of beginning ch-3. Repeat one more round.
8. Change to dark blue yarn. Dc in each st around, sl st to the top of beginning ch-3.
9. Change to light blue yarn. Repeat previous step.
10. Change to dark blue yarn for border: Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to first sc.
11. Fasten off and weave in ends.
12. Pom-pom: Using all colors, make a pom-pom (approximately 2 inches in diameter) and sew it securely to the top of the hat.
