Crochet Adorable Dragon Freezie Cozy Amigurumi Free Pattern

Materials Needed

  • Medium weight yarn (size 4) in green, yellow, and purple
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • Stuffing (optional for added stability)
  • Safety eyes (9 mm)
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Stitches Used

  • Chain (ch)
  • Slip stitch (sl st)
  • Single crochet (sc)
  • Half double crochet (hdc)
  • Double crochet (dc)

Instructions

Body

  1. Start with green yarn. Make a magic ring.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
  3. Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
  4. Rounds 3-8: sc in each stitch around (12) (6 rounds)
  5. Round 9: (sc in next stitch, inc) around (18)
  6. Round 10: (sc in next 2 stitches, inc) around (24)
  7. Rounds 11-14: sc in each stitch around (24) (4 rounds)
  8. Round 15: (sc in next 2 stitches, dec) around (18)
  9. Round 16: (sc in next stitch, dec) around (12)
  10. Stuff lightly, then continue to dec until closed. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Wings (Make 2)

  1. Start with purple yarn. Ch 4.
  2. Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 1, turn.
  3. Row 2: 2 dc in same stitch, hdc in next stitch, sc in last stitch. Fasten off.

Tail Spikes (Make 3)

  1. Ch 2 with green yarn.
  2. Round 1: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Fasten off.

Assembly

  1. Using the long yarn tail from the body, sew the wings onto the back of the cozy.
  2. Sew tail spikes onto the back, starting from the top down.
  3. Attach safety eyes to the front of the cozy, placing them below the head area.
  4. Embroider a smile with purple yarn to add character.

Finishing Touches

  • Optional: You can attach a small loop of yarn at the top to hang the cozy.
  • Insert the freeze pop into the cozy and enjoy the fun!
