Cozy Textured Slippers

These cozy slippers are easy to make and will keep your feet warm. This pattern is perfect for beginners and introduces basic stitches in crochet.

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn (approximately 200 yards in bright red)
• Size H (5 mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends
• Scissors

Gauge:

12 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in double crochet (DC)

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• dc = double crochet
• sl st = slip stitch
• st(s) = stitch(es)
• FO = fasten off

Instructions:

1. Making the Sole:
   • Start with a slip knot on your hook.
   • Chain 15.
   • Row 1: Starting from the second chain from the hook, work 1 single crochet (sc) in each chain across. (14 sc)
   • Row 2: Chain 1, turn. Work 1 sc in each sc across. (14 sc)
   • Row 3-10: Repeat Row 2 for 8 more rows, ending with a total of 10 rows of sc.
2. Making the Body:
   • Row 11: Chain 2 (counts as first dc), work 1 dc in each sc across. (14 dc)
   • Row 12: Chain 2, turn. Work 1 dc in the first dc, then work 1 dc in the next stitch, and continue this across. (14 dc)
   • Row 13: Change to a cluster stitch—work 1 dc in first stitch, pull up a loop in the next stitch (repeat twice more in next two stitches), yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook. This creates a bobble effect. Repeat across the row. (14 clusters)
   • Rows 14-15: For the next two rows, alternate between dc and cluster stitches.
3. Shaping the Slipper:
   • Row 16: For this row, start decreasing. Work 1 dc in first stitch, then dc 2 together in the next two. Continue across. (10 stitches)
   • Row 17: Chain 1, turn, sc across for the last row. (10 sc)
   • FO and leave a long tail for seaming.
4. Finishing:
