Cozy Textured Cable Knit Sweater Pattern

17 sts and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

CO - Cast On
k - knit
p - purl
c6B - cable 6 back (slip 3 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, k3, then k3 from cable needle)
c6F - cable 6 front (slip 3 stitches to cable needle and hold in front, k3, then k3 from cable needle)
rep - repeat

1. CO 100 sts. Work in 2x2 ribbing (k2, p2) for 2 inches.

2. Change to stockinette stitch: k one row, p the next, for 4 rows.

3. Begin cable pattern:

Row 1 (RS): *K8, c6B; rep from * to end.
Row 2 (WS) and all even rows: Purl.
Row 3: *K8, c6F; rep from * to end.
Rows 4-8: Repeat Rows 2-3 twice.
Repeat these 8 rows for cable pattern, until back measures 24 inches from cast on edge.

4. Shoulder shaping: Bind off 8 stitches at the beginning of the next 4 rows. Bind off remaining stitches.

Work as for back until piece measures 20 inches.

1. Shape neck: work 34 sts, join a new ball of yarn, bind off 32 sts, work to end. Work both sides at the same time.

2. Decrease 1 st at each neck edge every RS row 4 times. Continue until front measures same as back. Bind off shoulders as for back.

1. CO 40 sts. Work 2x2 ribbing for 2 inches.

2. Begin cable pattern as established, increasing 1 st each end of every 6th row until you have 60 sts.

3. Continue until sleeve measures 18 inches.

4. Bind off loosely.

Block all pieces to measurements.
Sew shoulder seams.
Pick up and knit 90 sts around neck edge. Work in 2x2 ribbing for 1 inch. Bind off loosely.
Set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.
