Colorful Crochet Granny Square Dishcloth

  • 100% Cotton Yarn in the following colors:

Gauge

4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) = 12 stitches x 12 rows in double crochet (DC)

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • sp = space

Instructions

Creating the Granny Square:

  1. Start with a magic ring or chain 4 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
  2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc into the ring, ch 2, *3 dc into the ring, ch 2; repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3. (4 groups of 3 dc)
  3. Round 2: Change to Pink. Slip stitch into the next 2 dc and into the next ch-2 sp. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the same sp. *In the next ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc); repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3. (4 corners)
  4. Round 3: Change to Purple. Slip stitch into the next 2 dc and into the next ch-2 sp. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the same sp. *In each of the next 2 ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc); in the next ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc). Repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.
  5. Round 4: Change to Orange. Slip stitch into the next 2 dc and into the next ch-2 sp. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the same sp. *In each of the next 3 ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc); repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.
  6. Round 5: Change to Green. Slip stitch into the next 2 dc and into the next ch-2 sp. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the same sp. *In each of the next 4 ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc); repeat from * 2 more times. Join with sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.
  7. Finish: Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Pull through the last loop and weave in all ends using a tapestry needle.
