Instructions:

Hat:

1. CO 60 stitches.
2. Row 1 (RS): *K1, P1; repeat from * to end.

4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until work measures 5 inches from CO edge.
5. Next Row: K all stitches.
6. Begin decreasing for crown:
• Row 1: K2tog across the row (30 stitches remain).
• Row 2: K all stitches.
• Row 3: K2tog across the row (15 stitches remain).
• Row 4: K all stitches.
• Row 5: K2tog across the row (7 stitches remain).
• Row 6: K all stitches.
• Row 7: K2tog across the row (3 stitches remain).
• Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Pull through remaining stitches and secure tightly.
7. To create ears, CO 20 stitches for each ear. Work in stockinette stitch for 6 inches. {K the first and last stitch of each row to create a garter edge.} BO. Make 2 ears.
8. Attach ears to the top of the hat.

Bottoms:

1. CO 50 stitches.
2. Row 1 (RS): *K1, P1; repeat from * to end.
3. Row 2 (WS): *P1, K1; repeat from * to end.
4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until work measures 8 inches from CO edge.
5. To shape bottoms, K1, then K2tog, across the row (34 stitches remain).
6. K 2 more rows in stockinette stitch.
7. Create pom-pom: Using the crochet hook, make a simple pom-pom with a few strands of yarn. Attach it to the back.
8. BO all stitches. Sew up the sides to create a waistband with a slight ruffle.

Finishing:

• Weave in all ends using a yarn needle.
• Gently block the entire set if necessary.
