Step-by-Step Instructions

Cuff

Cast on 40 stitches and distribute evenly across 4 needles (10 stitches per needle). Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Hand

Begin the cable pattern:

Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until the piece measures 6 inches from the cast-on edge.

Thumb Gusset

Place a marker for the thumb: K18, place marker, M1 (make one stitch), K2, M1, place marker, K to end.
Knit 1 round to establish the thumb gusset.
Increase round: K to the marker, slip marker, M1, K to the next marker, M1, slip marker, K to end.

Top of Mitten

Begin decreases:
