Whimsical Wave Scarf Pattern

Materials

  • 2 skeins of DK weight yarn in two contrasting colors (Color A and Color B)
  • US Size 7 (4.5 mm) circular knitting needles
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge

18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches in Wave Stitch pattern, blocked.

Abbreviations

  • k = knit
  • p = purl
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • k2tog = knit two together
  • yo = yarn over
  • rep = repeat

Instructions

Cast on 30 stitches using Color A.

Wave Stitch Pattern

Row 1: k1, *yo, k2tog, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: purl all stitches.
Row 3: k2, *yo, k2tog, k3; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 4: purl all stitches.
Repeat Rows 1-4 until scarf reaches desired length, approximately 70 inches total.

Edging

Switch to Color B.

Row 1: k1, *k2, k2tog; rep from * to end, k1.
Row 2: purl all stitches.
Repeat these two rows until desired width is achieved (about 5 inches).

Finishing

  • Bind off all stitches loosely.
  • Weave in ends with a tapestry needle.
