Instructions

Ruffled Cuff

  1. CO 64 sts using the 3.25mm needles. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a marker to indicate the beginning of the round.
  2. Ruffle:
    • Round 1: [(k1, yo) to end of round] - 128 sts.
    • Round 2: Knit all sts.
    • Round 3: [(k1, yo) to end of round] - 256 sts.
    • Round 4: Knit all sts.
  3. Work in (k1, p1) ribbing for 1 inch.

Leg

  1. Continue knitting in stockinette stitch (knit all rounds) until the leg measures 2 inches from the ribbing.

Heel Flap

  1. Turn work so purl side is facing, work back and forth over 32 stitches.
    • Row 1 (WS): [sl1, p across] to end of row.
    • Row 2 (RS): [sl1, k across] to end of row.
    • Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the heel flap measures 2.5 inches, ending with a wrong side row.
  2. Turn the Heel:
    • Row 1 (RS): K18, ssk, k1, turn.
    • Row 2 (WS): Sl1, p5, p2tog, p1, turn.
    • Row 3: Sl1, k6, ssk, k1, turn.
    • Row 4: Sl1, p7, p2tog, p1, turn.
    • Continue in this fashion until all stitches on the sides are worked - 18 sts remain.

Gusset

  1. Resume knitting in the round. Pick up and knit 14 sts along the side of the heel flap. Knit across the instep stitches, pick up and knit 14 sts along the other side of the heel flap, and knit to the center of the heel sts. Place marker.
  2. Join to begin gusset decreases:
    • Round 1: Knit to 3 sts before the first marker, k2tog, k1, slm, knit to second marker, slm, k1, ssk, then knit to end of the round.
    • Round 2: Knit all stitches.
    • Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until 64 sts remain.

Foot

  1. Knit in the round until the foot measures 6 inches from the picked up stitches, or 2 inches less than the desired finished length.

Toe

  1. Decrease for toe:
    • Round 1: [k1, ssk, knit to 3 sts before marker, k2tog, k1] – repeat across the entire round.
    • Round 2: Knit all stitches.
    • Repeat these 2 rounds until 16 sts remain.
  2. Graft the toe using Kitchener stitch.

Finishing

  • Weave in all ends and block the socks to the desired measurements.

Enjoy your charming, cozy ruffled edge ankle socks!
