Step-by-Step Instructions
Placemats
- Using the forest green yarn, cast on 80 stitches onto your knitting needle.
- Work the first four rows by knitting all stitches (Knit 1, Knit 2, Knit 3, etc.). This will create a solid base.
- For Row 5, perform the following:
- Knit the first 3 stitches (K3).

Napkin Rings
- Switch to the bark brown yarn and cast on 12 stitches onto your knitting needle.
- Work the first four rows by knitting all stitches (K1, K2, K3, etc.) to create a solid base.
- For Row 5, perform the following:
- Knit the first 2 stitches (K2).
- Then, repeat the following pattern: yarn over (yo), knit 2 together (k2tog) until you reach the last 2 stitches.
- Finish Row 5 by knitting the last 2 stitches (K2).
- For Row 6, purl all stitches (P1, P2, etc.).
- Continue to repeat Rows 5 and 6 until the piece measures 6 inches from the cast-on edge.
- Once you reach the desired length, bind off all stitches.
- To finish your napkin ring, sew the short ends together to form a ring.
