Crocheted Pink Heart Pattern

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in light pink (approximately 50 grams)
  • 3.5 mm (E) crochet hook
  • Fiberfill stuffing or yarn scraps for filling
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge

Gauge is not crucial for this project, but a loose crochet fabric is recommended. A sample of 4" x 4" should have about 12 stitches and 10 rows in single crochet.

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
  • dec = decrease (2 sc together)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • RS = right side
  • WS = wrong side

Instructions

Heart Body

  1. Start with a magic ring: Create a magic ring (or chain 2 and work into the second chain from the hook).
  2. Round 1: Work 6 sc into the magic ring. Pull the ring tight. (6 stitches)
  3. Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12 stitches)
  4. Round 3: *sc in next st, inc in next st* repeat around. (18 stitches)
  5. Round 4: *sc in next 2 st, inc in next st* repeat around. (24 stitches)
  6. Round 5: *sc in next 3 st, inc in next st* repeat around. (30 stitches)
  7. Round 6: sc in each stitch around. (30 stitches)
  8. Round 7: *sc in next 3 st, dec* repeat around. (24 stitches)
  9. Round 8: *sc in next 2 st, dec* repeat around. (18 stitches)
  10. Round 9: *sc in next stitch, dec* repeat around. (12 stitches)
  11. Round 10: Dec around until you reach the last 2 stitches. (6 stitches)
  12. Fasten off: Leave a long tail for sewing. Stuff the heart lightly with fiberfill.

Heart Lobes

  1. Repeat the first 5 rounds of the body to make the second lobe.
  2. Follow the same decrease pattern for this second half starting from round 6.

Assembly

  1. Position the two lobes together and use the yarn needle and left tail to sew them together, ensuring they are aligned nicely.
  2. Use running stitch to go around the edge, sewing until you reach the bottom, and leave a gap for stuffing if needed.
  3. Stuff the heart as desired, ensuring it’s evenly filled.
  4. Finish sewing the bottom closed, ensuring the stuffing is secure.

Finishing Touches

Weave in any loose ends using a yarn needle. You can make several of these hearts in different colors to create a lovely decoration or gift set. Enjoy your sweet creation!
