Whimsical Twisted Braided Coffee Cup Cozy Pattern

Materials:

• Size 4 Yarn (choose two contrasting colors)
• US H/5.00 mm Crochet Hook
• Yarn Needle
• Scissors

Stitches Used:

• (ch) chain
• (sl st) slip stitch
• (sc) single crochet
• (hdc) half double crochet
• (dc) double crochet

Instructions:

1. Make a foundation chain of 36 stitches.
2. Row 1: HDC in the 3rd chain from the hook, and across. (34 hdc)
3. Row 2: Ch 2, turn. HDC in the back loops only across. (34 hdc)
4. Row 3: Ch 1, turn. HDC in the front loops only across. (34 hdc)
5. Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
6. Row 5: Repeat Row 3.
7. Row 6: Ch 1, turn. Begin to braid: Make a sl st in the first stitch, skip the next stitch, sl st in the following stitch. Repeat this pattern until the end of the row.
8. Row 7: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the same stitch, continue with sc across. (34 sc)
9. Row 8: Ch 1, turn. HDC across. (34 hdc)
10. Finish by leaving a long tail for seaming the side together.

Finishing:

To create a pocket for the gift card, fold the cozy in half lengthwise and seam the sides together with the yarn needle. Weave in any loose ends. Optionally, add a small bow embellishment using leftover yarn to the middle of the cozy!
