Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in three colors (A, B, C)
• 4.5 mm (US 7) crochet hook
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Gauge:

16 stitches x 22 rows = 4 inches in double crochet

Finished Size:

Approximately 12 inches wide and 8 inches tall

Pattern Instructions:

Bag Base:

1. With Color A, chain 30.
2. Row 1: DC in 4th chain from hook, DC in each chain across. (28 DC)
3. Row 2-5: Ch 3, turn, DC in each stitch across.
4. Change to Color B.
5. Row 6-10: Repeat rows 2-5.
6. Change to Color C.
7. Row 11-15: Repeat rows 2-5.

Side Panels (Make 2):

1. With Color A, chain 30.
2. Row 1: DC in 4th chain from hook, DC in each chain across. (28 DC)
3. Row 2: Ch 3, turn, and work in established pattern. Change colors every 5 rows similar to base.
4. Continue until panel measures 8 inches tall.

Star Motifs (Make 4):

1. With Color B, chain 5, and join with a slip stitch to form a circle.
2. Round 1: Chain 3, 11 DC in circle. Join with slip stitch.
3. Round 2: (Chain 3, slip stitch in next DC) repeat around. Cut yarn and secure.

Assembly:

1. Attach side panels to the base with slip stitch or single crochet.
2. Seam the two side panels together.
3. Attach stars evenly spaced on the front of the bag using a tapestry needle.
4. Add handles made of 10 chains of Color C, attaching to the inside of each side panel.
5. Weave in all ends and your beautiful star bag is ready!
