Crochet Elegant Textured Buttoned Clutch Free Pattern

Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in dark blue
- Crochet hook, size H/8 (5 mm)
- 1 decorative button (approx. 1 inch in diameter)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Finished Size:
Approximately 6 inches wide x 4.5 inches tall
Abbreviations Used:
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- st: stitch
- sl st: slip stitch
- rep: repeat
Pattern Notes:
The clutch is worked in one piece and folded to assemble. The buttonhole is optional and can be adjusted to fit your chosen button size.
Instructions:
Base:
- Ch 32.
- Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each ch across. Turn. (30 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next 2 sts; rep from * across, ending with a dc in last st. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in ch-1 space, *ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next ch-1 space; rep from * across, dc in top of ch-3. Turn.
- Rows 4-10: Rep Rows 2 and 3. End with Row 2. Fasten off.
Assembly:
- Fold the bottom edge up 2/3 of the way to form the clutch body. Sew sides using sc or whip stitch.
Flap:
- Attach yarn to the top right corner of the clutch body.
- Row 1: Ch 3, dc evenly across the top of the clutch body, working 2 dc in the side of each row end. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3, *dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st; rep from * across. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, dc in each ch-1 space and st across. Turn.
- Row 4: Work evenly across rows using sc for a neat edge. Fasten off.
Finishing:
- Sew button to the front center of the clutch body.
- If desired, add a buttonhole by skipping stitches appropriately on Row 4 of the flap to match button size.
Weave in all loose ends with a tapestry needle.
