Materials:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn (approx. 200 yards)

Stitches Used:

Instructions:

Base of the Bag:

1. Start with a slip knot and ch 30.
2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each ch across. (29 sc)
   Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each sc across. (29 sc)
3. Repeat Row 2 until you have 10 rows total, then fasten off.

Creating the Sides:

1. Attach yarn to one of the shorter edges of the base. Ch 1. Sc in same stitch.
2. Row 1: Work 5 sc in the first corner stitch, work 29 sc along the shorter edge, 5 sc in the next corner, and 29 sc along the opposite shorter edge, sl st into the first sc to close the round. (68 sc)
3. Row 2: Ch 1, work 5 sc in the first corner, *sc in next 29 stitches, 5 sc in the next corner, sc in next 29 stitches, repeat from * to the end, sl st to close. (88 sc)
4. Row 3: Ch 1, work 6 sc in the first corner, repeat the pattern as before. (108 sc)
5. Continue to increase in the corners until you reach 128 stitches (if you desire a taller bag, add more rounds).

Textured Detail:

1. For the textured shell pattern, in the next round, replace sc rows as follows:
2. Row 1: *[dc in next stitch, ch 1, dc in same stitch] – shell stitch, skip next stitch, repeat from * around.
3. Continue this around for 4 more rounds.

Finishing the Bag:

1. Cut yarn, weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
2. For strap: Ch 75, sl st in each stitch across, then attach to the sides of the bag as preferred.
3. Optional: Attach a decorative button or embellishment for a fun detail on the flap.
