Whimsical Textured Floral Motif Cushion Cover
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in four colors (A: cream, B: coral, C: soft green, D: mustard)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Cushion insert (18x18 inches)
Gauge: 14 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch.
Pattern Notes:
- Pattern is worked in rounds.
- Each round will change color according to the motif.
- For beginners, practice basic stitches such as chain (ch), single crochet (sc), and double crochet (dc).
Instructions:
Floral Motif:
- With Color A, ch 4, join with a slip stitch (sl st) to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of beginning ch. (12 dc)
- Round 2: Change to Color B, ch 3, dc in same stitch, (2 dc in next stitch) around. Join. (24 dc)
- Round 3: Change to Color C, ch 1, sc in same stitch, (ch 2, skip 1, sc in next) around. Join. (12 loops)
- Round 4: Change to Color D, join with sc to a loop, (sc, ch 2, sc) in each loop around. Join. (12 petals)
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly:
- Make a total of 4 floral motifs.
- For the panel, using Color A, ch 56. Row 1: Starting from the second ch from hook, sc in each ch (55 sc). Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in each stitch across. Turn.
- Create 4 rows of dc, then switch to Color B for 2 rows of sc.
- Repeat the alternating pattern of dc and sc for a total of 18 rows.
Putting It All Together:
- Place your motifs evenly spaced on one side of the panel, sewing them into place with a needle and yarn.
- Using the remaining panel, sew around all four sides, leaving a small opening for inserting the cushion.
- Turn the cushion cover inside out, insert the cushion, and sew the opening closed.
