Crochet Whimsical Playful Gnome Coaster Free Pattern
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in red, white, green, and beige
- Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Stuffing (optional for a 3D effect)
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
Instructions:
Body:
- With beige yarn, make a magic ring.
- Round 1: 6 sc into the magic ring (6)
- Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
- Round 3: *sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat around (18)
- Round 4: *sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat around (24)
- Round 5-8: sc in each stitch around (24)
- Round 9: *sc in next 2 stitches, sc2tog* repeat around (18)
- Round 10: *sc in next stitch, sc2tog* repeat around (12)
- Stuff the body lightly if desired, then continue to decrease.
- Round 11: sc2tog around (6)
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Hat:
- With red yarn, make a magic ring.
- Round 1: 6 sc into the magic ring (6)
- Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
- Round 3: *sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat around (18)
- Round 4: *sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat around (24)
- Rounds 5-7: sc in each stitch around (24)
- Round 8: *sc in next 2 stitches, sc2tog* repeat around (18)
- Round 9: *sc in next stitch, sc2tog* repeat around (12)
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing the hat onto the gnome's head.
Beard:
- With white yarn, cut several strands approx. 4 inches long.
- Attach to the gnome's chin with a sl st, fluffing them out to create a beard effect.
Assembly:
- Sew the hat onto the head securely.
- Weave in any loose ends.
