Crochet Warm Textured Baby Shrug with Floral Motifs Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (approx. 250g)
- 4.5mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Buttons for floral motifs (optional)
Gauge:
Gauge is not critical for this project, but aim for about 14 stitches and 18 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm in double crochet.
Sizes:
This pattern is designed for baby sizes 9-12 months. Adjust the size as needed by modifying the number of chains and rows.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
Instructions:
Body:
- Chain 65 (or a multiple of 5 for desired width).
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc across. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3, dc in next stitch, *ch 1, skip one stitch, dc in next stitch; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Continue to alternate Row 1 and Row 2 until the piece measures 25 cm from the starting chain.
- Fasten off.
Sleeves (Make 2):
- Chain 25.
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc across. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until sleeve measures 20 cm.
- Fasten off.
Assembly:
- Lay the body flat, fold it in half to form the back and front.
- Attach sleeves on each side, securing them with slip stitches.
- Using the yarn needle, sew the side seams together, leaving openings for the arms.
Floral Motifs (Optional):
- Make small flowers using a magic ring and chaining.
- Attach small buttons or crocheted centers to complete the look.
Finishing:
