Crochet Warm Textured Baby Shrug with Floral Motifs Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn (approx. 250g)
  • 4.5mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Buttons for floral motifs (optional)

Gauge:

Gauge is not critical for this project, but aim for about 14 stitches and 18 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm in double crochet.

Sizes:

This pattern is designed for baby sizes 9-12 months. Adjust the size as needed by modifying the number of chains and rows.

Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • dc = double crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sc = single crochet

Instructions:

Body:

  1. Chain 65 (or a multiple of 5 for desired width).
  2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc across. Turn.
  3. Row 2: Ch 3, dc in next stitch, *ch 1, skip one stitch, dc in next stitch; repeat from * across. Turn.
  4. Continue to alternate Row 1 and Row 2 until the piece measures 25 cm from the starting chain.
  5. Fasten off.

Sleeves (Make 2):

  1. Chain 25.
  2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc across. Turn.
  3. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until sleeve measures 20 cm.
  4. Fasten off.

Assembly:

  1. Lay the body flat, fold it in half to form the back and front.
  2. Attach sleeves on each side, securing them with slip stitches.
  3. Using the yarn needle, sew the side seams together, leaving openings for the arms.

Floral Motifs (Optional):

  1. Make small flowers using a magic ring and chaining.
  2. Attach small buttons or crocheted centers to complete the look.

Finishing:
