Crochet Vibrant Rainbow Crescent Shawl Free Pattern
Materials:
- Fingering weight yarn in rainbow colors (approx. 800 yards total)
- Crochet hook size G (4.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- tr - treble crochet
- st(s) - stitch(es)
- rep - repeat
- sk - skip
Instructions:
Note: The shawl is worked from the top down in a crescent shape, using different colors for each section. Adjust the size by adding or reducing rows.
- Foundation Row: With first color, ch 4. Work 1 dc in the first ch to form a circle. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in circle. Turn.
- Row 1: Ch 3, 1 dc in first dc, 2 dc in each dc across, 2 dc in turning ch. Turn. (8 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each st across, 2 dc in turning ch. Turn. (9 dc)
- Repeat Row 2 until the main body measures approximately 55 inches across, ensuring you alternate colors to create the rainbow effect.
- Lace Border:
- Switch to desired border color. Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), 1 tr in same st, *ch 2, sk 2 sts, 2 tr in next st; rep from * across to last st, work 2 tr in top of turning ch. Turn.
- Lace Row 1: Ch 3, 1 dc between first 2 tr, *ch 3, 1 dc between next 2 tr; rep from * across, end with 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
- Lace Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), 2 tr in first ch-3 sp, *ch 1, 3 tr in next ch-3 sp; rep from * across, end with 1 tr in top of turning ch. Turn.
- Repeat Lace Rows 1-2 to create desired lace border depth. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
