Cozy Chunky Turtleneck Sweater Pattern
Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Level
Materials Needed:
- Bulky weight yarn (approximately 800-1000 yards)
- Size K (6.5 mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Double Crochet (dc)
- Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc)
- Back Post Double Crochet (bpdc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
Gauge: 12 dc x 7 rows = 4 inches in textured stitch pattern
Instructions:
Body:
1. Ch 68 to start. Join to form a ring, being careful not to twist.
2. Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in each ch around. Join with sl st to top of ch-2.
3. Round 2: Ch 2, dc in next stitch, *fpdc around next stitch, dc in next stitch*, repeat from * around. Join.
4. Round 3: Ch 2, bpdc around next stitch, *dc in next stitch, fpdc around next stitch*, repeat from * around. Join.
5. Repeat rounds 2 and 3 until body measures 16 inches from beginning.
6. Finish off and set aside.
Turtleneck:
1. With right side facing, reattach yarn at one side of the neck opening.
2. Ch 2, dc in the same stitch, then continue working in the round, using the same stitch pattern as the body (alternating fpdc and bpdc).
3. Repeat until turtleneck measures 10 inches, or desired height.
4. Finish off and weave in ends.
Finishing:
1. Optional: Add a belt by chaining 60 and working in sc until desired length.
2. Weave in all ends and block lightly if needed.
